Jingfengmen Station is located at the site of Jingfengmen City Gate of Jin Dynasty. The artist, Mr. Zhang Baowei, is also the author of the nearby 850th Anniversary Monument of Beijing as Capital and the Beijing Qiancheng Memorial Column. The artwork integrates traditional Chinese heavy color freehand brushwork with modernist abstract expression, creating a unique pictorial atmosphere. The rich ink and color are reminiscent of the verdant mountains and colorful flowers and trees, and represent the artist's imagination of Beijing's nearly 900-year history as the capital city. It also reflects the artist's aspirations for the cultural and moral integrity of literati.
