January 12, 2015, the first metro library in Beijing – M-Library was opened officially. M-Library is a large public welfare project jointly initiated by BJMTR and National Library. The aim is to use metro as a platform, let passengers share the quality resources of National Library and have an alternative reading place. M-Library as a new form of public cultural service will enrich their riding experiences. GM of BJMTR Mr. Richard Wong said, BJMTR endeavors to take its social responsibility, while ensure safe and convenient travel to passengers, it also endeavors to provide multiple travel services. As a major transport means and a window of the city as well, metro culture reflects the culture features of the city. It is expected that this project could help to bring reading into metro, into the daily life of the passengers.
